Educational Development, Greater Employment (EDGE) is an adult education program that has open enrollment. An instruction plan is created according to pretest scores. Participation in tutoring will be as recommended by the instructor for a maximum of 6 hours per week and a minimum of 2 hours per week. EDGE offers flexibility in scheduling.
Educational Development, Greater Employment (EDGE) has the following goals:
Provide pretesting and tutuoring to increase the pass rate for GED testers
Provide tutoring for low-income or unemployed individuals for placement in training, employment or educational opportunities
Flexible scheduling and locations to meet the needs of individuals
Coordinated resources with other agencies so services are not duplicated and all indiviuals are provided needed services
Anticipate the change in 2013 to an all computer based model for the GED test
This program is funded with a grant from The Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards grants to organizations in communities served by Dollar General. The literacy grants support nonprofit organizations that provide literacy services such as adult basic education, GED preparation, English language acquisition or programs for youth who struggle with reading.
